Details of the birth place of Annabella Lear and her early childhood is not known at this time. The first record I have for her, is when she married John MacKay of Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island in 1874. They were both "of Charlottetown" at that time.
John MacKay was one of six children who grew up on the MacKay Family farm in Wood Islands. John went to sea as a young man, and in his later years was known as a "rigger of ships".
Annabella was known as a fine seamstress and passed on her skills to her daughters. Both are buried in the Wood Islands Cemetery.
